How to Do a Video Presentation Assignment

Video Presentation Assignment

In online courses, students are often required to submit pre-recorded videos discussing a certain concept or topic, or responding to some questions. Though it seems simple; just uploading a video of yourself presenting something, it could be challenging for some students. This article provides some tips that can help one create an appealing video and get all the points set for the assignment.

Read and understand the requirements: The instructor will provide you with assignment instructions that you need to follow when doing the presentation. These include the questions to answer or the topic to discuss, video formatting requirements, length, and the due date for submission. If you have the freedom to choose the topic for a presentation, select one that interests you most.

Gather information: Conduct research from credible sources to support your ideas. Though the assignment may allow you to present your opinions, it is prudent to support them with credible literature. For example, you can back them up using the information contained in the course materials. As you gather information, write down some notes that you can use to create an outline for your video.

Write a script for your video: Use the outline created above to write a script that you will follow as you do your presentation. Make the script simple, easy to follow, and avoid jargon. The introduction should be attention-grabbing, clear, and concise. Like in an essay, the body content should support the main point you’re arguing for. Finish your presentation with a strong conclusion that summarizes your key points.

Record: Record yourself using a camera. Speak clearly and maintain eye contact with the camera or the viewer. It is advisable to do your recording in a quiet place free of distractions. Choose a plain background – one with no objects that may distract the viewers.

Edit the video: Review your work and edit it accordingly. Adjust it to fit the required length and format. Edit out any mistakes or unnecessary information. Also, check for clarity and quality. Submit your video before the deadline.
