Give practical examples of leadership behaviors that demonstrate each of the three pillars.

Authenticity is essential since followers seek and need genuine from their leaders despite their position or their followers within an organization. Authenticity leadership needs honesty and openness to build trust with others who will take orders and listen to the advice suggested or given (Goffee and Jones, 2015, 23). Commonly shared bonds through authentic leaders include being truthful to others and themselves, being unique and genuine, and being courageous to dream and achieve their dreams. Authentic leadership is not gained through knowledge, studies in business schools, books, or from professors but instead gained through life experience within the field.

One of the most outstanding examples of authentic leadership was demonstrated by Martin Luther King, Jr. This is illustrated when he remained faithful and firm to his belief during hard times regardless of others’ actions (Ciulla, 2020, 10). Luther fought violence nonviolently even though he faced all kinds of violence through the Civil Rights Movement (Nimtz, 2016, 4). He stood firm and persistent until he achieved his objective and goal of sharing equality and peace. Martin’s authentic leadership inspired many people, leading to acceptance and support from his followers and still a legacy to those who came after him.

Additionally, Authentic leaders inspire and empower their staff and followers by supporting and allowing them to succeed alongside accepting failure and mistakes, which are regarded as great learning avenues and future innovations. Pam O’Connor is regarded as an excellent example of an authentic leader. She appreciates and respects all team members by providing continuous inspiration and supports daily (Gurock, 2019, char 1). Pam has adopted authentic leadership by example by empowering her team members to attain significant goals and always promoting innovations and creative thinking to overcome obstacles and challenges they might face.

On the other hand, Rata Tata is another excellent example of individuals who have demonstrated authentic leadership in the current business world. He is the chairman of the Tata group and has maintained an appropriate balance between CSR goals and revenue goals throughout Tata’s life and being a role model and mentor to young managers both in India and the Tata group. Mr. Tata has been a faithful and visionary leader, leading the Tata conglomerate, comprising one hundred group companies (Tripathi and Kumar, 2020, char 1). Tata was able to motivate and lead employees and managers to be ambitious through a company slogan stating, “Think Big, Think Ahead.” Adaption of this authentic leadership had effective outcomes for the Indian economy and the group company as well. Due to Tata’s skills and experience, he was able to take the upper role of offering advice to the Indian government (Saha 2015, 533). Therefore, Mr. Tata is an excellent source of motivation and inspiration to organizations and other leaders who aim to maintain their values.

Different leaders have demonstrated authentic leadership behaviors in their leadership periods. This indicates that each leader is unique in using different forms of authentic leadership to inspire and motivate their followers.
